Week 5 9/12 Down in Bama
Howdy Buck'Os!!
Well this week has been kinda alright!! Its my last week in the CCM before I got to Peru and be completely humbled because of my spanish!! This week we received our flight plans and ill be heading out of here on Monday at 12:30 in the Afternoon! Which is a blessing from God cause almost 70% of the missionaries leave at like 3am, so itll be nice not have to take a redeye flight. Today I packed all of my things to go weight them and prepare them for our flight. Then we had to unpack so we had cloths for the rest of the week, so that really wasnt productive. This week in invited one of our "investigators" to be baptised, and of course he said yes cause Elder P and I are just the best teachers in the entire CCM. Our other investigator is kinda mean, or i just think that cause i dont like our morning teacher. I dont know what it is about her but she gets on my nerves sometimes... also if i remember right, she looks like the Spider off of George and the Giant peach... i think. That was kinda mean but its true. Its even better cause she wears black with purple lipstick so i think thats what shes going for anyways. So basically its a compliment!!
Tuesday night me, page, and Elder W had an entire conversation in a Hick accent for like 30 minutes. We were just talking about memes and other super random stuff and that was really funny! We also had a devotional from one of the quorum of the seventy, it was a super good talk on the atonement of Christ... which is basically what they end up talking about every devotional. But it is the center of our Gospel pretty much so i guess thats okay. Anyways during the talk he asked a question that I dont remember, probably cause i was talking with Elder L or something, but all of a sudden this kid in our zone stands up and says something about "Black Money"!! It was freaking hilarous! I was at the point where i was crying cause i was laughing so hard!! I guess the speaker asked something about temptations or something and i guess black money was the first thing to come to his mind. He is a super big guy from Tennessee and has a thick accent so it made it even better.
We had ProMix twice this week. Thats where we do splits with a Latino District. Its one of the best days of my week cause the Latinos are so funny. One of them taught me some japansese and italian. I did a teaching appointment with Elder Rios and it was alright, I did my 1 minute part and then he just talked super fast spanish that i could proabbly only understand like 60% of for the rest of the 12 minutes. They are such a good help to my spanish and glad that our district got chosen to participate in ProMix.
Today we played soccer with our ProMix Lation District, not gonna lie, but the latinos down here kinda suck at soccer. We play them every week and we beat them every time. Most of the day we spent packing and doing laundry, I also got a haircut from one of the ladies here and she cut pretty much all my hair off, youll see it in some of the pics. Elder P didnt feel like lifting so I went on splits with Elder W and we got a good life in before the gym started to get packed with people. Thats definitely something im gonna miss from the CCM is the Gym and the food thats always making me sick. Ive only gained like 8 pounds here which isnt too bad considering that Elder L has gained 23. He said he was gonna shoot for 200 pounds which is like 20 more pounds than he is right now. hahah he used to play football so i think his body isnt used to not working out as much.
My time here in the CCM has been bitter sweet. Ive had some of the lowest times of my life in here and also some of the best. Everyone is super nice.... most of the time. We almost got in a fight with some of our house mates, but thats a story for another time. But anyways the CCM is super great and im super nervous to leave. When i left home 6 weeks ago i was super sad but nervous is almost as bad I think. Most of the world is affraid of the unexpected, and they should be, no one like changing, but as we put our trust and faith in Jesus Christ he will not only guide us through these tough times, but will pick us up completely and carry us through it!!
Love,
Elder Kohlert
