Week 11 10/22 President Nelson and Stephenson face to face!
This
week we had a dope experience! We as missionaries in Lima had the
opportunity to listen to President Nelson and Elder Stephenson! Like no
joke! I was sitting probably 20 feet from them. It was so awesome! When
he walked in the room it literally felt like a Holy Swat Team from
Heaven came down and shot us all with the feelings of the Holy Ghost! (I
think that is a pretty good description) I want to write more but
literally can't describe the feelings and thoughts I had!
We also had another opportunity to listen to them again over broadcast. They went and talked with all the members of the church and we watched it at the stake center. Also, did anybody know that president Nelson knew Spanish! He had a translator and says to him, "oh you can sit down, I will talk to you all in your language!" Then begins to give his talk in Spanish! Everyone was freaking out and cheering, it was so awesome!
He gave an
awesome talk on 3rd Nephi 11-24ish about how South America literally the
seed of Abraham... I think thats right. Correct me if i'm wrong. The
people here are ready for the gospel and it is literally a PRIVILEGE
to serve in South America. Nearly 3/4 of the baptisms annually of the
church come from South America! There was a lot more and it was super
good! I wrote as much as i could in my Study Journal. Elder Stephenson
gave an awesome talk on using Preach my Gospel and how if we learn the
teachings of the gospel now and gain a perfect knowledge of them. We can
teach anyone whatever we want for the rest of our lives.

My
testimony of Prophets is probably 10x stronger just from this one
meeting with them. It is something I will never forget! His wife also
told a story where one morning she woke up and felt the spirit tell her
that she needed to leave the bed room, so she did. She went and worked
on other things for about 2 hours and at the end of those 2 hours
President Nelson came out and told her that he had been receiving direct
detailed revelation from god for the past 2 hours. I'm trying to imagine
what that would be like!
This week we have 2 baptisms on Saturday with Ruben and Carlota! They are super awesome. They moved from Venezuela because of all the war and political stuff. I think I already
wrote about them last week so I wont write anymore.
We will
probably have another baptism next week with Jenire. She is the mother
of a convert, Dessire, she has been really stubborn lately with our
commitments but she had an awesome experience this Saturday. So I don't
know where to start... she has a really bad knee and can barely walk and
same with her eyes, she can barely read too. But we met with her Saturday night after the meeting with President Nelson and just told her
about it and bore our testimonies. Elder Torres told her that if she
read the scriptures this night she would have strength to attend church
tomorrow. Its the next day now, Sunday, we get a text from her saying
she can't attend because her knee hurts super bad and she didn't read the
other night because she couldn't read, even with her glasses. But she
decided on Sunday morning to listen to the scriptures and music of the
church. While listening she could see a blurry image of Jesus, the
statue in SLC, and she could barely tell what it was. She said she felt
the spirit so much and her knee all of a sudden felt better and she
wanted to go to church. So he got ready and came with Dessire to church!
They were like 30 minutes late but she made it! She now has 2
attendances at church and needs 1 more for baptism.
While
telling us this story she was holding back tears which is awesome cause
that means she really meant every word and she truly did feel the Holy
Ghost.
I think she has finally realized that everything we
have taught is true and actually has a desire to read and attend! So
hopefully her baptism will be the 3rd of November!
Today for P-Day we met with our zone and made Completos and Hamburgers! Gucci Good!
