Week 13 11/5 HALLOWEEEEEN!!! SPOOKEY GHOST!!
This week we had another BAPTISM!!! with Hermana Janire!
We had an awesome experience with her!
So
Friday night we received a notice that Janire was going to head into
surgery for her knee a couple hours after her baptism. We were super
worried cause we thought that she wasn't going to be able to be
confirmed. So we went over to her house to talk with her and she said
she would enter the hospital at 8pm the surgery ended at 10pm and she
would leave the hospital at 3am Sunday morning. Then attend church for
her confirmation at 11am! We thought she was insane! But she said
something super awesome to me that I won't forget. It's something I never
though I would hear from an investigator hahah.
Janire, "Do you believe in God?"
"Yeah"
Janire, "Do you have faith?".
"Of course!"
Janire, "Then I will be confirmed tomorrow after my surgery don't you worry!"
I literally stood in shock and just stared her and her daughter hahah!
At that moment she probably had more faith than I did!! She was so determined to be baptized and confirmed this weekend.
Fortunately,
she was baptized by Elder Torres, went to surgery, and then was able to
attend church and be confirmed! It was insane. She said she didn't feel
any pain the next day in church... (Probably cause she was on tons of
pain meds) but also with the help of like 4 people bore her testimony in
sacrament meeting! It was so good and spiritual and even better we had a
family from Venezuela their that we are working with to be baptized this
month!
Sorry I cant send any pictures cause this computer is
broken, but hopefully next week I can send the baptism of Janire and
also the baptism of Estephany also! Estephany has her meeting with
President Strong today and if she is all good, she will be baptized this Saturday!
Also something super awesome happened
on Halloween. We decided that we were going to work super hard and the
entire day, for like 7 hours, we knocked doors hahah! Aaaaannnddd we didn't
find a single person that we could come back to! Plus that day I had a
mad headache and couldn't move my neck it was the weirdest thing. But
yeah pretty much it was like the worst day of my life here. But that
night I was thinking about the character of Christ and always be
positive and turn outwards to people and show love. Then I though how
it's good we had this day because it can't get any worse than this, hahahha.
Well,
the next day is when we saw the fruits of our labors hahaha. While
teaching Christina in the street we had a family walk up to us gave us
their names, numbers, and address!!! Literally, we didn't even say
goodnight or anything to them, and they just walked up to us and talked
with us. Anyways we went to their house that night and it is a family
from Venezuela!! THE BEST!! Every single Venezuelan we have taught has
been baptized hahah. We talk them lesson 1 that night and they didn't
accept a date for baptisms but another visit. The next night when and
taught another lesson, and the next next day was Sunday and they
attended church! And now this Wednesday, we have an appointment with them
and will extended invitation for baptism one more time. Its a shame
because they missed sacrament so we cant count it as a attendance. So
their baptisms will be the 1st of December.
Yesterday
we found out our converts Ruben and Carlota are going to move back to
some islands above Venezuela for work! Which is awesome cause he is going
to make a lot of money he says and there is a church there too. But we
won't be able to continue to teach them!!
Also
this week I was listening to a lady complain about all her problems and
it reminded me of a teaching that I remember dad taught to the old lady
that lived in our house for eternity hahah.
Yeah we all have
our problems, and what are you going to do about it? Nothing? Complain
about it? or are you going to change your ATTITUDE and DO something
about it?
Just something I remembered that applies to all of
us. When we are in times of affliction or difficulties we need to do
something about it. We can't just sit there and wait for time it take its
toll. Get up and start DOING something about it and TRUST in the Lord
Jesus Christ and I promise, as a representative of Him, that it will
turn out for your benefit!! IT ALWAYS DOES THROUGH THE LORD!! Something
special that my President in the CCM taught me, 5 words for this life...
DO IT THE LORDS WAY!!
Anyway, super good week
here in Peru for us! Our zone goal is 9 baptisms this month and we
already have 3. So hopefully we can achieve this through are diligent
work!!
Love
Elder Kohlert
